Newton Trust Time-Limited Teaching Fellowships

About the Newton Trust Time-Limited Teaching Fellowships (TLTF) programme

The Trust makes grants available to eligible Colleges to encourage them to elect early career postdoctoral researchers to Newton Trust Time-Limited Teaching Fellowships. Up to 30 Newton Trust TLTF appointments are in post at any one time. The  Trust pays the College up to £5,000 per annum toward the overheads involved. Each grant may be renewed for up to four years in total, as long as the applicant continues to be a Fellow and is still in receipt of a postdoctoral salary provided wholly or mainly for research.  The funding of the postdoctoral position may change without affecting the case for renewal, but, if a TLTF is appointed to a position of teaching or administrative responsibility in the University, then the appointment will not be renewed unless a special case can be made.

The programme aims to strengthen the undergraduate supervision system at those Colleges with smaller endowment by providing additional resources.  It is also a means of helping to integrate some of the many postdoctoral researchers in Cambridge into College life and give them experience of small-group teaching.
