The Trust is prepared occasionally to make small Research Grants to recently-retired, research active University researchers who would otherwise lack the funds to cover research costs.
Applicants to the Isaac Newton Trust must have the full support of their Head of Department or Institution, as for an applicant currently employed by the University.
Researchers should however first try to obtain funding by other means, particularly, if eligible, the emeritus awards available from the Leverhulme Trust.
If funds cannot be obtained by other means, researchers in this position are welcome to contact the Director to discuss the possibility of an application to the Trust
