Purpose and legal basis: consent

What is the purpose and legal basis of the processing?

The Isaac Newton Trust will process your personal information for a range of contractual, statutory or public interest purposes, including the following:

  • To deliver and administer your grant or fellowship and record the outcomes of the project;
  • To administer the financial aspects of your relationship with us and your School, Department, Faculty or College, and with certain external fellowship providers, as appropriate;
  • To enable our fellows' participation at research seminars and social gatherings;
  • To communicate effectively with you by post, email and phone;
  • To compile statistics and conduct surveys and research for internal and statutory reporting purposes;
  • To promote the work of the Isaac Newton Trust.

We consider the processing of your personal information for these purposes to be either necessary for the performance of our contractual obligations with you, or necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, or necessary for the pursuit of the legitimate interests of the Isaac Newton Trust or an external organisation (e.g. another funding body contributing to your award). Our use of your personal information will not be excessive.

Consent

When making an application to the Isaac Newton Trust, you, and any named co-workers or postdoctoral workers to be supported from the award,  will be asked to indicate consent to the collection and processing of personal data, as supplied in the application, as above.

If we require your consent for any specific use of your personal information, we will collect it at the appropriate time and you can withdraw permission at any time.
