Isaac Newton Trust

The Isaac Newton Trust was established by Trinity College in 1988 to provide financial assistance for the teaching and research activities of the University of Cambridge.  It makes awards totalling about £4 million each year.  The Trustees, who meet three times a year, are supported by a Director and a Treasurer, and an Administrator, all of whom are part-time.

We seek to appoint a Senior Administrator, to start as soon as possible, who will work in the offices of the Trust, presently situated in Trinity College, and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the full range of the office’s activities.

This is an interesting, rewarding and varied role offering an opportunity for a self-motivated, experienced administrator to work with a considerable degree of independence within a collegiate University setting.  The successful candidate must have excellent organisational skills and be accurate, tactful, discreet, calm under pressure, and able to communicate with people at all levels.  A willingness to collaborate and to turn a hand to any aspect of the Trust’s business, as required by the Director, is essential.

The post requires a high level of proficiency in office computing skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Access and Exce. Experience of website management, together with a proactive approach to database design and management, are highly desirable.  The postholder should write fluently in English and be numerate and confident in making financial calculations. Some experience of financial record-keeping would be advantageous, but is not essential at the outset.   Experience of working in the University of Cambridge would be useful.

This role is offered at approximately 50% full-time, the working pattern to be arranged with the Director.  The salary will be on a ten-point scale in the range £28,982 p.a.-£37,768 p.a. pro rata, the exact starting point being dependent on qualifications and experience.

Please refer to the further particulars of this post.
