Isaac Newton Trust

During the Award

Your WPIF award should normally be spent within 12 months of the award being made, the intention being to keep the funds flowing freely through the rounds rather than being tied up across years. However, some flexibility is allowed where grants cannot be spent within the year that they are awarded, given the seasonality of WPIF activities.

Please let us know if you need to arrange for a short extension at point of application, offer, confirmation or post award. If your event needs to take place or continues over more than one year from the award start date, this may be accomodated but please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your project.

Projects supported by a grant from this fund are asked to acknowledge the support of the Isaac Newton Trust in any promotional material and should use the Trust’s logo where possible.

After the Award

Any funds remaining after the grant end date must be returned to the INT so that they can be used for other WPIF projects.

Final Reports

Each College allocated funding must report back to the INT with an evaluation of the project that has been supported. This report may be shared with other Colleges, as well as others in the wider University community engaged in outreach and induction work who may wish to undertake similar projects in future. Collecting and sharing these reports among those involved in widening participation work in the Collegiate University is an important purpose of the Fund, therefore your report will also be made publicly available on our website once your project has concluded.

What to include in your final report:

  • Your final report does not need to exceed 2 to 3 pages of A4. If you submit a longer report, please also submit a summary of no more than 2 pages of A4
  • A financial statement which shows which costs were covered by the grant
  • Basic statistics relating to the participants and their experience
  • An assessment of how others might learn from your experience, including an account of what worked and what did not

Looking for inspiration? You can find examples of previous project reports on our website.

Please note that submission of a final report is a prerequisite for eligibility for future grants under the WPIF Programme.
